Things to Consider When Buying Outdoor Heavy Bag

1. Material

The material of the outdoor heavy bag will affect its durability and how well it withstands weather conditions. If the bag’s fabric is of good quality, it will last longer outdoors.

If the material is of poor quality, it will get damaged more quickly outdoors. Leather and synthetic material like vinyl are usually recommended.

For example, a canvas bag will resist tears and weathering better than a synthetic bag, but a synthetic bag will be cheaper. You should consider waterproof bags, mainly because they will be placed outdoors.

Almost all punching bags have a cover made of leather or synthetic material that resists damage and humidity, like vinyl. The canvas can also be used for bags in areas with less use and moisture.

2. Size & Weight

The size of the outdoor heavy bag will determine how much space it will take up and how many hits it can withstand. The general rule is that the bag should be around half your body weight. For example, a 200 pound person should get a 100 pound bag.

The size of the outdoor heavy bag is essential because it affects how many punches and kicks you can put into it. For a larger size bag, you will also need a bigger place to install it.

Make sure you have enough space outdoors to set up your bag, so it is well protected and gives you enough space to punch and kick the bag more effectively.

You should also consider the bag’s weight, as it will affect your ability to hang it. A light bag is easier to carry, but a heavy one will give you more swings per round. Also, the weight of the outdoor heavy bag will affect how much effort is needed to hit it and how much of a workout it will give you.

If you’re unsure about what weight and size of heavy punching bag are suitable for you, the rule is that heavy bags should be about half your body weight.

A 100-pound bag can be suitable for use by a 200-pound person. To be comfortable for most adults, hanging bags need to weigh at least 80 pounds. Punching bags with an average width of 28 to 32 cm are considered standard punching bags.

3. Price

If you are looking for an affordable heavy bag, then a cheaper option may be best for you. Heavy bags can range in price from around $60 to upwards of $300, so it is important to know what features are important to you before making a purchase.

Some features that may be important to you include the weight of the bag, whether or not it has handles, and the material it is made from. Another factor that can affect affordability is the size of the bag.

Larger bags may be more expensive than smaller options, but they may also offer more room for practice. The best material for the bag will determine its price. If the material is of high quality, it will be more expensive, but it will also last longer and give you a good training experience.

You should expect to spend between $70 and $120 on average and sometimes up to $200 for a standard heavy bag.

4. Warranty

Some manufacturers offer warranties on their products, ensuring that you have coverage if something goes wrong. This is important to consider if you are worried about damaging your heavy bag. If the bag breaks, having a warranty will mean you can get it fixed or replaced free of charge.

Although boxing bags can last anywhere between 5 to 10 years, having a warranty can be a great value-added feature. Not all punching bags come with a warranty.

Some of the heavy bags that do come with a warranty are PRO boxing heavy bags. A free lifetime warranty is included with every PRO Boxing Heavy Bag.

5. Features

Some features of the outdoor heavy bag may include straps for support or a hanging system for easy storage.

One feature you might want to consider when buying an outdoor heavy bag is a punch bag holder or foot pedal, which will make punching and kicking the bag more comfortable.

You may also want a suspension system to keep the bag from sagging in the middle.

A good punching bag will have adequate resistance while not being overly compacted. Some punching bags are overly tightly packed, which might harm or hurt your hand. You should also think about durability. You want it to last throughout your workout because you’ll be hitting it repeatedly.

6. Reviews

Before making a purchase, it is always helpful to read reviews to see what other customers think about the product. This can help you make a decision about whether or not to buy the product.

The product with more reviews means that more people have purchased it. A product with 1000 4-star reviews is always better than one with three 5-star reviews.

Look for products that have more reviews and then check to see if people have rated them positively or negatively. This will help you purchase a product that you are actually going to love.

Tips on Keeping a Heavy Bag Outside

1. Hang and Rehang

The only practical way to ensure that your heavy bag lasts as long as possible is to hang it for the duration of the time it is being used before bringing it back inside.

A bag can’t actually be made completely waterproof. Any amount of water that is absorbed by canvas, leather, or vinyl will result in several issues. If you live where it doesn’t rain very often, that might not be much of a factor.

Eventually, mold will begin to grow within, and when you hit the bag, it will start to spread outside, which is terrible for your health. Any hit will cause water to leak out of the sides or the bottom, which can also make the experience rather unpleasant and smelly.

Not to mention that it will get much heavier and harder as a result. It will turn into a brick when the winter months arrive.

In time, rodents and various pests will infest the interior, turning the sack into a nest. Even though hanging a heavy bag all the time is the best thing you can do, it can be a pain if it weighs more than 100 pounds, and some individuals just don’t want to deal with it.

2. Cover It

The heavy bag can only be protected from the rain or sunlight when not in use if it is covered. The best choice, in this case, is to cover it with a tarp, a plastic bag, or some other type of material.

Once more, the objective is to stop the sun from further damaging it while reducing the amount of water seeping in. Additionally, consider spraying it with a waterproofing agent to make the bulky bag more water-resistant.

Another option is to cover it in duct tape from top to bottom. We believe doing so could make it too dense and ultimately damage it, even though it might make the bag significantly more sturdy and water-resistant.

3. Clean It

If you have the bag outside and no rain or direct sunlight can touch your punching bag, you still have to make sure that you clean it regularly. Keeping the bag clean is also essential if you want to keep it outside without damaging it.

The sweat from your daily training session may leave it moist. This is due to the sweat on your hands or boxing gloves that touch the bag.

Ensure you always wipe and clean the bag with a clean cloth after using it. If you never clean your bag, it may create bacteria on it, which, as a result, can damage your bag and harm you when you touch it.

Mold can also form on the bag, making the material of the bag dirty and smelly. The bacteria may grow and ruin the bag. Making sure that you clean your bag after every training session is important and hygienic.
